About Gable Cottage
The Dining Room
Whatever your plans, walking, sightseeing or just relaxing, we feel sure you will enjoy your stay at Gable Cottage. In the lounge, the flagged stone floor, exposed beams, and stone fireplace, are complemented by the comfortable sofas, flat screen TV with Freeview, and DVD.
Between the lounge and kitchen is the attractive dining room, just the place for a family breakfast or dining in style in the evening if you don’t want to try another of the great restaurants in Stow. In the modern kitchen, the new AGA stove makes cooking a real pleasure, as well as radiating a cosy glow 24 hours a day, even in the depths of winter. Of course it is not really necessary for warmth, as the whole cottage is centrally heated-yet its comforting warmth will make you feel nicely at home. Neither is the AGA strictly necessary for cooking, as the kitchen is fully equipped with a mini electric oven, and microwave. The kitchen also has a washing machine and a dishwasher.
From the lounge a narrow staircase leads up to the two bedrooms on the first floor. Don’t be concerned if the walls seem to lean at strange angles and the floors seem to slope in every direction. It’s not that last glass of merlot, just 18th century timbers gently settling in! The main bedroom has a comfortable double bed. There is room for an extra single bed if needed. The other bedroom has luxurious twin beds that can be put together as a super-king double if requested in advance. The contemporary bathroom opens off the landing on the first floor, with toilet, basin and shower over the bath. A private and sheltered courtyard garden opens off the kitchen and dining room perfect for summer barbeques or relaxing in the evening.

Attractions
Gable Cottage is ideally placed to enjoy all that the Cotswolds have to offer. Life in the Cotswolds is dictated by the beautiful countryside. Sheep and arable farming is still a significant industry, giving employment to many either directly or indirectly. Bourton on the Water, 4 miles from Stow, is perhaps one of the most well known Cotswold towns with the River Windrush flowing gently under the low bridges, enjoyed by flotillas of ducks and tourists alike. But turn down any side road and you cannot fail to come upon another Cotswold village even more stunning than the last, clustered around its 12th century church and pub, totally forgotten by the rest of the world until you came upon it!
Hire a cycle for the day and explore the secret back lanes. Enjoy the sounds and smells of the country side where you will come across nothing more threatening than a rider on horseback. However, watch out for the occasional giant tractor and trailer unit or a Range Rover bearing children to school. Keep off the roads altogether and wander the intricate network of public footpaths and rights of way that link the villages across the fields.
