The hotel lies on the edge of the Cotswold’s amidst rolling countryside yet is only 20 minutes from the historic city of Bath and Lord Bath's magnificent Longleat stately home and safari park.
Stonehenge and Avebury are about 40 minutes drive and the National Trust village of Lacock with its Medieval Abbey is about 20. The County town of Trowbridge is less than 10 minutes away and London is about a two-hour drive or 90 minutes by train.
Being only 40 minutes from Bristol International Airport Widbrook Grange is easily accessible from many UK and European Cities and even from New York.
Walks from the hotel lead to the Kennet and Avon canal with its picturesque narrow boats, past the 14th century tithe Barn and on to the centre of Bradford-on-Avon. The town grew from an Iron Age settlement 2500 years ago and is steeped in history. A walk around the town reveals wonderful examples of life in the Roman, Saxon, Norman, Medieval and Industrial Revolution times.

The hotel has an intimate relaxing atmosphere of warmth and informality with cosy lounges and a log fire burning on cold winter nights and peaceful gardens in which to relax on those long balmy summer evenings.

Accommodation
Widbrook's 20 spacious and tastefully decorated bedrooms are located in the main house and in its courtyard and garden. These include romantic four posters, family rooms and rooms with facilities for disabled guests. The hotel boasts a heated indoor swimming pool, a gym and wireless broadband facilities available in several of the bedrooms.
The hotel also has a secluded conference suite catering for between 2 and 25 delegates with a full range of facilities including wireless broadband connections.
All rooms are offered for both single and multiple occupancy and have en-suite bathrooms with shower, direct dial telephone, a hair dryer, colour TV and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities. They are individually designed with fabrics and furnishings that compliment the surroundings and range from the more traditional in the main house to ones with exposed beams and sand stonewalls in the courtyard. Several of the rooms have four-poster beds and all have furniture of the period, much of it antique.
There is a specially designed ground floor room for our disabled guests with wide access, walk in shower and seat, levering bars and bed/chair blocks. There is flat access from this room into the restaurant, drawing room and swimming pool.
Children are very welcome at Widbrook Grange and we have a number of large family rooms with connecting doors or corridors. Cots are provided free of charge if required and baby-listening equipment and baby - sitting services are available.
Wi-Fi wireless broadband is now available several of the bedrooms and in the conference suites.
The Medlar Tree Restaurant
Our award-winning restaurant is named after an ancient tree in the hotel's gardens. Awarded the AA rosette for excellence it offers a wonderfully comfortable and relaxed setting in which to enjoy authentic and imaginative British regional cuisine both old and new, using fresh ingredients and unusual recipes developed from information gathered from around the British Isles. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner throughout the week and the mixture of food prepared suits most tastes and dietary needs. For larger parties, small banquets and private dinners our chefs are only too happy to create dishes to meet specific requirements.

Swimming pool & Leisure Facilities
For those of a more athletic nature, we have a superb eleven metre indoor heated swimming pool, always kept at a welcoming temperature. This is complimented by a small gym with a selection of exercise equipment to suite all ages and levels of fitness.
If walking or jogging is your favourite exercise, there is a countryside footpath across part of our land that meets a bridle way and leads onto the Kennet and Avon canal towpath back to the hotel. This provides a not too challenging jogging circuit or a very pleasant round walk.
We have tee booking arrangements with the local Kingsdown and Cumberwell Golf Clubs and can organise boat hire on the canal, horseback riding and cycle hire. |
